SEBASTIAN BERTONCELJ, cello

The cello player Sebastian Bertoncelj has completed his studies at the Ljubljana Academy of Music, class of Professor Miloš Mlejnik, while, later on, he honed his skills at many master classes. The young artist is a regular guest of Slovenian and foreign stages as well as festivals, where he performs as a soloist or with orchestras. Among the most prestigious halls, in which he played, is the Alban Berg Hall in Ossiach and the Johannes Brahms Hall of the Vienna Musikverein Concert Hall. He won numerous prizes in Slovenia and abroad, among others the Škerjanc Award of the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet (2011), the Prešeren Award of the Ljubljana Academy of Music (2013) and the award of the Yamaha Music Foundation (2016).

 

Lorenzo Cossi, piano player from Trieste, has studied at the Conservatory of Trieste and then broadened his knowledge at the International Piano Academy Lake Como and the Chigiana Musical Academy in Siena. His repertoire includes everything from baroque to contemporary music, with a special emphasis on jazz and other styles. He is the winner of quite a few grand competitions and has been recently selected as one of the five finalists of the Honens International Piano Competition in Calgary (Canada), where he gave a brilliant performance of Johannes Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 in D minor with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Roberto Minczuk. The Cincinnati Enquirer wrote the following: "Cossi’s technique and command of sonority were simply stunning. He produced lush, orchestral sounds and performed amazing feats, but always with a refined touch."
