The Dissonance String Quartet was created by sheer coincidence. Violinists Janez Podlesek and Matjaž Porovne, viola player Oliver Dizdarević Škrabar and cello player Klemen Hvala, members of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, gathered on the occasion of the first Slovenian performance of the String Quartet by the noted Slovenian composer Lojze Lebič. After the successful performance, they decided to become a permanent ensemble because they wanted to keep playing music together. The ensemble was named after the eponymous piece by Mozart, as it symbolises the mission of the group, which focuses on classical literature as well as on the works of contemporary composers, especially Slovenian ones. Both compositions that left an indelible mark on this promising ensemble will be played at the concert completing the cycle of this year's Castle Harmonies.
