At the turn of the 15th century, a new genre emerged in the culturally rich humanistic Italy – frottola. New songs were created in the Italian language that combined the Franco-Flemish polyphony and the Italian tradition of improvised declamation following the lead of Dante and Petrarca. These songs are directly associated with the appearance of first “proto-operas” and similar theatrical works, including first instances of musicalized dialogues.
The renowned singer, who accompanies herself on vielle, VivaBiancaLuna Biffi, and Bor Zuljan, lutenist and La Lyra’s & Flores Musicae Festival's artistic director, will venture into the world of Da Vinci and Botticelli. They have recently released their first CD under the record label Arcana. With half a millennium old “popular songs” they will create a dialogue and take us back in time, when the beautiful golden gothic winged altar of the St. Cross Church above Kojsko was created.
