The Chamber Choir of the Ljubljana Conservatory for Music and Ballet is one of the two choirs of the mentioned conservatory. Its members are students who look for greater challenges on the vocal front and some graduates who continue their studies at the Academy of Music or other faculties. The purpose of the chamber choir is to fulfil the artistic ambitions of its members and to offer insight into different styles and genres of works ranging from the Renaissance to the present day. Special attention is given to compositions by Slovenian composers, thus encouraging the youngest generation of conductors to create new compositions which are then successfully promoted at performances on Slovenian and foreign stages. They have left a large footprint in international competitions in Slovenia and abroad. In 2016, they won the Grand Prix at the International Choral Competition in Moscow (Russia), the golden plaque and first prize in the category of mixed choirs in the national competition Our Song (Naša pesem) in Maribor where they were also selected as the best choir of the competition. Their reputation has been confirmed again in 2017 at the International Choral Competition Gallus – Maribor where they won 2nd prize among a strong international competition.
The Chamber Choir of the Ljubljana Conservatory for Music and Ballet is directed by composer and conductor Ambrož Čopi, who is one of the most acclaimed personalities of the Slovenian choral culture. The concert programme includes sacred and secular works by Slovenian contemporary composers.
