Kulturni dom Nova Gorica traditionally holds a piano recital in each Concert Season. This time, the internationally renowned Serbian pianist Jasminka Stančul will tickle the ivories for us. Her musical talent and remarkable attitude to Beethoven's music brought her an award at the International Beethoven Competition in Vienna in 1989. She has worked with numerous European orchestras and renowned conductors, and she plays in various chamber ensembles. Since October 2013, she has been a professor of piano at the Ljubljana Academy of Music and she currently also teaches at the Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna.
The critics especially praise her technical perfection and the clarity of sound, stating that her interpretation is practically perfect: pure lines, amazing sound, and clear melodies in wide narrative arcs. She attributes it to her sincere approach to the text: “If the composer wrote certain notes, then all these notes should be heard. And do not ask me now how much of a perfectionist I am! But until I'm sure something is perfect, I see no limits. Of course, at the concert, certain emotions and stage fright appear, so a note played wrong is not a scandal. The important thing is to deliver a perfect musical expression throughout the whole story you are narrating to your audience.”
We believe this concert is going to be all of that and much more!
