A guided tour of the Vila Vipolže is scheduled one hour before the concert.
French-American singer and harpist Anne Azema has established herself as one of the leading experts and interpreters of troubadour music. She has recorded almost 40 awarded CDs as a soloist, together with her ensemble Boston Camerata and other musicians.
In a duo with lutist Fabio Accurso from Trieste, they have prepared a new programme featuring music of troubadours linked to Dante and the Divine Comedy, such as Arnaut Daniel, especially for this occasion.
This engagement and Anne Azéma is supported by Mid Atlantic Arts through US Artists International in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
The concert is organised in collaboration with the
Italian association Dramsam and Musica Cortese festival.
VILA VIPOLŽE, GORIŠKA BRDA
Vila Vipolže, embraced by picturesque vines, has been through different makeovers during its history. It served initially as a hunters' lodge of the Counts of Gorizia who used it for their summer vacations. Later, it was owned by the noblemen of the families Herberstein, Della Torre, Attems and Teuffenbach. In the 17th century, the Venetians renovated it into their summer residence. It then took the form of a rectangular villa with two towers at the corners and the Venetian decor. To this day, it remains surrounded by a magnificent park with a Baroque fountain.
