Roya Saxophone Quartet has a distinctively multicultural identity crowned by diverse traditions, experiences and values. Petra Horvat, Weronika Partyka, Betka Bizjak Kotnik and Jovana Joka were brought together by their love for classical saxophone and chamber music. Their goal is to present to a wider audience the very best of classical saxophone repertoire in the form of a one- of-a-kind and unique ensemble, i.e. a female saxophone quartet. Their story began in September 2013, after years of various musical projects in which they had collaborated. By blending diversity and their complete devotion to the chemistry that connects them, they have started a bold adventure of presenting challenging songs never heard on Slovenian concert stages. Their repertoire is wide and varied. It draws from different traditions, experiences, cultural heritage and values. In addition to the standard repertoire for the saxophone quartet, the saxophonists also like to include new works, many written just for them. Up until now they have presented their solo projects at festivals in Croatia, Hungary, Poland, France, Slovenia, Serbia, at a tour around Argentina and have recorded three albums. With their excellent and passionate interpretations, ROYA has been conquering the hearts of the wider audience. In the 2021-22 season, Weronika Partyka will be replaced in the quartet by the Polish saxophonist Johana Blejwas, who completed her master's degree at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana after graduating from Poznan.
