The Philharmonic, founded in 1990 by graduates of the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatorium of Saint Petersburg, is composed of excellent formally trained musicians. Juri Gilbo took over the reins of the orchestra as art director in 1998. Their shared talents and a very specific harmony have led the orchestra across important European concert halls and numerous festivals. Their wide repertoire includes compositions ranging from the Baroque to contemporary music. The quality of their interpretation of such a wide and diverse range of pieces has placed them among the finest chamber orchestras in Europe. With their masterly performances, the Orchestra has won the acclaim of the critics, who have often noted their barely audible and crystal clear pianissimo, and received enthusiastic ovations from the audience. The Orchestra will perform for the second time in Nova Gorica under the baton of conductor Juri Gilbo.
The audience will have the opportunity of listening to the excellent Russian violinist Dmitri Berlinsky. Winner of numerous international awards and the youngest winner of the Paganini International Violin Competition in Genova is regularly performing as a soloist on the most renowned international stages across the globe.
