MILKO LAZAR - CREATIVE WORKSHOP
Milko Lazar is a composer and multi-instrumentalist. After finishing the college of music, he studied jazz, classical piano and saxophone at the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts (Austria) and harpsichord (baroque music) at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (the Netherlands).
For fifteen years he cooperated with the Big Band of the Slovenian National Radio and Television as the first alto saxophone, solo player, director and composer. He is currently a free artist and works regularly with musicians such as Bojan Gorišek, Luka Juhart, Matjaž Drevenšek, Vasilij Meljnikov and others. His compositions were played by a number of Slovenian and foreign bands and orchestras including the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Slovenian Radio and Television, the Stuttgart State Orchestra, the Augsburg Philharmonic and the Zurich Philharmonic) across Europe, the USA, South America, China and Russia, among others at the Carnegie Hall in New York, at the Zurich Opera House and the Augsburg Opera House. He also cooperates regularly with choreographer Edward Clug. His works include a number of chamber compositions, symphonic and opera works, ballet music and jazz pieces for small bands and orchestras.
Among the many awards he received, he was granted the Prešeren Fund's Prize in 2005 and the Župančič Prize for his work as a composer in 2010.
