100 YEARS OF OVERLOOKED PIANO MUSIC IN THE GORIŠKA REGION

At the turn of the 19th and 20th century, Gorica used to be a renowned cultural capital, a meeting point of different cultures and a unique fountain of musical creativity. Following a diplomatic decision in 1947, the centre of Gorica was stripped away from its heartlands and the two cities have never again been able to experience the creativity of a single territory, which draw power from countless crossings and interflows of various living organisms, Slavic, Latin and Germanic. To this day. The project, created and developed by musicologist Tatjana Gregorič, presents piano music by selected composers from Gorica, who are otherwise recognized in Slovenia mainly for their choral music. Established young pianists from the Primorska region will glide over the black and white keys performing works ranging from simple preludes by Emil Komel, seldom-heard fugues by Marij Kogoj, less known works by Stanko Jericij, Cecilia Seghizzi Campolietti and Marjan Mozetič, to modern compositions by Marjan Mlakar, Patrick Quagiatto and novelties by the youngest generation of composers, still students, Anej Černe and Ingrid Mačus.
