Jürgen Bruns, Conductor

...

Kammersymphonie Berlin was founded in 1991 by Jürgen Bruns, the orchestra's current art director. After the fall of the Berlin wall, many excellent musicians from other orchestras--mainly from Eastern Germany--have joined. Their repertoire includes mainly modern contemporary music, first executions of new compositions ranging from works for symphonic orchestras to smaller chamber ensembles. The bulk of their programme are German music of the early 20th century and works by composers expelled during Nazism. They cooperate with an array of renowned modern composers, an achievement to be credited to their art director and conductor Jürgen Bruns. Their cooperation with orchestras and musicians spans across several European countries. Although Bruns' conceptual approach to drawing up concert programmes by combining classical music with other art disciplines is often a challenge for state theatres and concert venues, accustomed to traditional shows, it attracts an increasing number of new followers. The experienced maestro has been cooperating with Slovenian musicians for many years with considerable success as he is the conductor of the Soloist's Chamber Orchestra of the Slovenian Association of Composers.
