May–June 2019
In May and June, the period of maximum flowering of the enchanting Bourbon roses, the lovely courtyard of the Franciscan monastery Kostanjevica in Nova Gorica will host a series of concerts entitled ‘Music from St. Francis’ garden’, now for the 25th time. We decided to enrich the spiritual power of this extraordinary cultural and historical jewel that stands on the strip of land between Nova Gorica and the neighbouring Gorizia, with music. During seven, carefully selected, musical evenings, we will continue to carry on with the contents that have already been outlined in the previous seasons and have been greeted with enthusiasm by both, our audience and our musicians. During this cycle, we will continue to present Slovenian and Italian musical creativity and reproduction, more precisely the one linked to the musicians from the Nova Gorica and Gorizia region. The concerts will offer an opportunity for established Slovenian and Italian musicians, and above all, for the young talents that are establishing themselves on both sides of the border and are trying to conquer the great musical stages of the world.
The cycle of concerts ‘Music from St. Francis’ garden’, already at its 25th edition, will continue to link the musicians and the music of this common land that does not allow itself to be divided by the border. In the spirit of previous years, we will continue to keep alive the tradition of preserving and promoting the musical heritage of the two cities, where different people and nations meet, different cultures intertwine themselves and were inexorably linked throughout the course of history. Join us in these exciting musical encounters and let the music, in the embrace of the monastery’s garden, speak to your soul.

All the concerts will be held in the hall of the Franciscan monastery, except the first one, which will take place in the church.
Admission is free and voluntary contributions will be allocated to the maintenance of the monastery.
